We would like to discuss the interviewee’s perspectives, which critically compare to our theme analysis and literature review that align between fashion and identity. According to an interview finding that interconnects the theme analysis in Letters from Thailand, the character whose name is Suang U views “fashion” in the traditional way as a complex medium for negotiating cultural identity. Some characters struggled with their own preferences, and they were unable to prefer their own fashion styles. Furthermore, they can be judged by society when they choose their unique styles. However, the literature review defined “fashion” in modern-day terms as a global expression of identity that is constantly evolving and reflecting personal preference and societal influences by comparing all three sources of the significance of fashion in shaping and reflecting our preferences. Therefore, self-expression resonates with cultural differences Additionally, culture partially influences fashion, but our inner mindsets are considered the core values of our true identities.
